About Me
I'm a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon with over 11 years building the infrastructure behind Amazon Security. I specialize in large-scale distributed systems — the kind that quietly process hundreds of petabytes every day across every AWS region, including dedicated and sovereign clouds.
I currently lead technical architecture across four engineering teams and 30+ engineers, regularly advising an additional 25+ across three more teams. I thrive on ambiguity: breaking down complex architectural problems, driving alignment, and making sure we're always building the right thing in the right way. I've driven infrastructure optimizations saving $10M+ annually out of a $70M+ platform budget.
Outside of work I'm a proud SLO local. I serve as 2nd Vice President of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, SLO Lodge — managing a $2M budget and helping build community. I'm a Cal Poly Computer Engineering alum and happy to still call the Central Coast home.

Worked across Amazon Prime, Last Mile Delivery, and Amazon Security with a focus on operational excellence and strong system architecture. In Amazon Security, served as primary architect for a big data processing platform handling petabytes of security data company-wide — built from scratch with a 5-person team, fully on AWS. The platform grew to process hundreds of petabytes of data per day across all AWS regions including dedicated and sovereign clouds. Recognized as subject matter expert for the majority of the system.

Supported the Prime Benefits system through Q4 holiday peak readiness. Engineered scaling formulas from traffic projections to ensure all systems were prepared for peak load. Executed game day testing and additional scaling activities. Reported readiness status to leadership on a company-wide weekly call leading up to the holiday peak.

Year-round internship (16 hrs/week during school year, full-time in summers) supporting Amazon Prime Benefits. Led architecture and development of two complete systems that played critical roles in enabling Prime benefit usage during Amazon's worldwide checkout pipeline — called on every order placed globally. Trained the team on order pipeline plugins and served as subject matter expert for both systems during and after the internship.
